Having the unspoken evil elephant in the room addressed, Pepper relaxed a little. Bringing the Items here would be no small task, and it could also be enormously dangerous. Bakura had told her about their effect on people; power has a way of corrupting, and the Items tend to take more than they give. Collected together, she's unsure of what could stop Bakura if it became necessary - Gene might be able to, but no one else.

She had always feared the possibility of losing who Bakura had become to the Items, more so in some ways than losing him physically. If he was successful in drawing them here, she would make it her job to be his anchor - perhaps even if he didn't want her to.

"We'd better make sure there's another way then," Pepper said firmly, taking his hand with a gentle squeeze. For her, there would always be a different choice, but she knew that was not the case for him. "It does seem like people get stuff from home more often than they used to, even if it's small. I know when Raine was studying the Dreaming, she said that we have the capacity to influence it, but usually it needs a lot of people at once." She missed her friend. Raine would no doubt have Opinions here. "You've been in and out of the Dreaming more than once; I bet the Aisling researchers would be interested in talking with you, just to get a foot in the door."
