Trahearne looked back to the mess on the table himself, frowning a little when he realized just how many bone chips he had managed to scatter everywhere. Next time he tried doing this, he'd have to take it outside. "I was attempting to inscribe magical symbols on these bones. It's easier to use them as a focus for magic that way, but well, when the carving didn't go right I thought painting the symbols on would do the trick. ... It hasn't.
