The process of creating the varnish is novel for Devin, though there are aspects of it that are familiar from both his past and present. Tools and techniques from well before the rise of the internet were mostly a distant memory. Fortunately, Devin's hands are both steady and deft. The Fool's whimsical approach helps keep his mind on track as much as the task itself, though nothing can actually distract him from why he's working at the Fool's side in the first place. His wariness fades a little as time goes by until it can be seen more in his eyes than his frame.
All the same, Devin's hesitation only lasts a moment or two before he takes the Fool's outstretched hand and sits. His grip is uncertain, but soon enough Devin finds where the shape of their hands fit together comfortably. It's strange, but not in a bad way.
"You know you can probably buy something like this," Devin points out, recapturing some of his usual cheekiness. "Then you would have more time to carve."
