Tony's return had been a happy event, or at least, Valdis assumed it was. She'd noticed his soul in the city, carrying the same signature as before, though that didn't guarantee he had his memories. Yet if he hadn't, Gene would have sought her out again, right? Though after her last encounter with him, she wouldn't blame him for avoiding her.

The small crowd which had formed in the park drew her attention, but it was the sight of Gene practicing that drew a smile. She was supposed to meet X later, so she had the two practice swords with her, giving her an idea.
