Given the artful dodge the Fool made when he first told Devin what to call him, the vampire has wondered what story lay behind concealing it. They've been careful about where and how they share their pasts, and in any case 'the Fool' has ended up as much a name as anything else - though clearly not entirely, or Devin might not still be curious.
