The storm didn't give much warning, and what it did give the Sentry took advantage of, unfortunately the storm didn't seem to care about the preparations. The ravaging winds took little time to cause a structural collapse of a building near the waterfront, tearing off a roof and damaging the supports already weakened by flooding. The dangers of the storm didn't sway the sentry, or helpful Dreamfolk from responding where they could, so Valdis arrived at the scene during a lesser pass of the winds. People were trapped inside and the instability of the structure would make rescue difficult, but less dangerous for some than others.
Valdis wove her way around and under beams, looking for the souls she had seen from the outside when a strange sensation washed over the area. The feelings of pain and fear grew stronger, filling her senses with the delight of a hunter after prey. She briefly pushed it away, only to have it come back stronger and sharper, as if all the pain and fear in the city was flooding in just as powerfully as the waves beating the islands.
Then death washed over with it and she breathed in, eyes shifting to a red so bright it almost glowed. She passed a body, unfortunately the soul had already left, no more high to be had from that one. A hungry delight sharpened her instincts. "It's alright," she said soothingly to the Kedan trapped under a beam, "I'll get you out of here."
