Blood soaked the kedan's shoulder, he was barely conscious, just at the edge. It would be such a waste to let it go. The sounds of the storm faded in favor of the heartbeat, the pain of failure, the slow slip of fading life. Everything seemed stronger, the desire for death, the suffering of the city. The Void moved, hissing softly.
"Hush," she whispered, "Everything will be fine."
Valdis grabbed a rag, putting it on his shoulder to apply pressure, or at least, she pretended to. The room darkened ever so slightly as a gust of wind struck the building. The Kedan stiffened, then relaxed as he died. Death, such a wonderful thing.
She started at the sound of Devin's voice, it was too loud, so was the storm and everything else. Her skin prickled when she stifled a giggle, trying to regain some kind of composure.
"That would be highly unfortunate," she agreed, her voice a little too pleased for the situation. It was wrong to feel so delighted in everything going on, but she couldn't help it.
