"Figured as much," he agreed, nodding. Yes, there was a city in the way of her and Miles, which was a comparatively much bigger problem. He was not at his best just then, and the sudden loss of his abilities clouded his thoughts.

He raised his head and gaped at her for that last comment, opening his mouth as if to argue-- but finding no argument at hand. When he tried to think of his own name, it was simply-- not there. All of his memories were intact, he could recall old aliases, but it didn't seem as though he had forgotten; it wasn't there on the tip of his tongue.

Valdis was right. The name was gone.

"Huh," was all he said at first. This was, in a word, bad. The implications of losing his name, particularly his surname, were significant. The storm had cut him off from the powers he claimed as a child, leaving him bereft and vulnerable. Leaving him, he thought as cold formed in his stomach, nearly human.

"So, this is what it feels like," he mused, quietly dry. The vampire refused to give into panic.
