The lightning tree will not be significantly distinguishable from any other tree Valdis would see with her Soul Sight, but her examination will affect her nonetheless. When she returns to using normal vision, she will have the color vision of a mantis shrimp; not being designed for it, her brain will not immediately be able to catch up and interpret what she's seeing, but mostly everything is psychedelic madness that she will never be able to explain to another person. The effect will last a few hours and then slowly fade, but will return if she examines or touches another lightning tree.
