TO THE WATERS AND THE WILD
Characters: All
Date: February 7th-16th
Location: Throughout Aifaran
Situation: The Dreaming has unleashed Fairy Tales upon the city, and those sensitive to the Dreaming are playing them out.
Warnings/Rating: In Headers
Once upon a time, on a world where the planes collide, an extraordinary group of people were brought together to protect a place they didn’t call home. They waged war against a faceless enemy, and many people died, but using the power of the Third Plane, called the Dreaming, they finally defeated him. But not all was saved, for the magic that summoned them began to break down, and tears between the three planes brought new calamities, causing the Last Great Turtle to go between them in order to save his world, leaving behind only his offspring to protect the people who remained.
Over five hundred years passed, and the Planes did not calm, wreaking havoc on the world, tearing it apart and putting it back together. A coalition of peoples, all except one, came together with the now grown hatchlings to form a new nation, a nation of all shapes and sizes, all beliefs and deep magics. They learned to live with the movements of the Planes, showing great fortitude even as the heroes from other lands continued to appear and disappear, as is the nature of the Dreaming. For a time, things seemed to be at peace. But all peace is fragile, and the nation has unknown enemies far greater than those of old. Now the heroes must rise to unlock the newly woken mysteries unfolding before them.
So it began as all stories do, with heroes, a quest, and an enemy, how it ends is up to you…but until then, here is a little gift of tales and stories from your own worlds. Some roles have been reversed of course. A princess is now a prince, a king is now a queen, and since females can be thieves too, well, there’s some fun to be had. Then there’s the story about stories, a journey far away, shapeshifters, and a strange fascination with monsters and men. Maidens in towers, lost shoes, and mermaids. I have many stories, each with roles for you to play. So I hope you enjoy them. Perhaps they will offer some inspiration.

"Yeah, I guess it was some Dreaming crap," he said by way of apology to everyone, and looked back at Valdis. She looked like she wanted to punch him. Sheesh, mixed signals much?
"So...what did I miss?"
no subject
"What did you miss?" she shook her head, "You scratched yourself on a spinning wheel, fell into a coma, and then the serpent living next to my soul decided to manifest and wreck the building...sound familiar?"
It had better sound familiar, or she might actually hit him.
no subject
"Look, I know I'm pretty, but not Disney-Princess pretty. And for your information, I didn't go stick my hand on it like a moron, I was knocked into it."
All of this information was pretty concerning, but the most of it was the Void. "So it turned into a dragon? The Dreaming made it a dragon. Cool. Cool cool cool. Cool, fine, and good."
Judging by his tone, it was not, cool, fine, and good.

The sound of footsteps quickly retreating would tell Miles that Valdis had very good hearing and was also in a very bad mood. She looked back to him, taking another calming breath.
"Apparently the Dreaming thought the Void fit to be a dragon. And don't ask me why you were Aurora, because I don't know."
The fact the Void could potentially manifest like that had never occurred to her, though it seemed it was mostly an illusion.
it is SO a lovers' quarrel
Then he grinned cheekily at her. "And it made you my Prince Charming. The Dreaming sure thinks it's funny, doesn't it?"
no subject
She's not as amused as Miles, but the fact that he's not engaging with her fury makes calming herself easier. Though her stress couldn't be undone by his silly smile.
"That's Princess Charming to you, sir."
no subject
Miles can use his humor to defuse situations, sometimes. Usually it just escalates them.
no subject
"And I wasn't barehanded, but I appreciate the dramatic intro."
Revelations lay on the floor where she'd tossed it, not exactly the way she should be treating a blade tied to her soul, but she'd been in a hurry.
no subject
It's Miles, Valdis, of course he's a drama queen.
no subject
"We're lucky that wasn't actually the Void, I can't fight it, only defend against it."
It wasn't something she could kill or defeat, not without destroying herself. She sighed and shook her head.
"At least the Dreaming had enough sense to not make me Sleeping Beauty" she said, trying to brighten the mood, "I'd have to challenge it to a duel over the insult."
no subject
"I'd pay good rhinn to see that," he said. "You're way less of a delicate flower than i am." Delicate flower? Him? He only got chased through a hell hospital and lost a couple limbs. She's a Hellhound archangel whatever with a literal, actual monster inside her. If it had been a contest, it would have been Valdis, hands down.
"Besides, then I'd have had to kiss you, and you might have snapped my neck as soon as you realized what had happened," he joked.
no subject
Though fighting an entire plane of existence would be a tall order, even for a god, and she was most certainly not one of those. As for being a delicate flower, her powers made her formidable, but those were hidden. She'd surprised many a person with them, which had always amused her. His next words, however, were less amusing. Her gaze sharpened, wariness entering her tone.
"And why would you have to kiss me?"
Admittedly, when faced with a dragon, there were few choices. Usually limited to the immediate vicinity, but there were other people.
no subject
"Come on, this is a little bit funny."
no subject
Was there only really one safe person? She might have to put some work into making more friends.
"Rikkan would be safe..."
Ok, now she was really grasping at straws.
"I'm married," the sound came from beyond the door, but it was amused. At least her partner thought this was funny, though she wasn't sure she wanted him agreeing with Miles.
no subject
When Rikkan calls through the door, he couldn't help it and started laughing hysterically. "So I guess we're all lucky that I got walloped with this, huh?"
no subject
Just because her first instinct would be to break the arm of whoever touched her didn't mean she'd actually kill the person. The killing would only be if they weren't someone she knew, or they dared touch her again. Yet Miles was only making a joke of it, so she could play along.
"Most men would be thrilled that I kissed them."
no subject
"What makes you think I'm not? Even if you're less than thrilled to have kissed me. I'll take a begrudging smooch over being in a magic coma."
no subject
She took a breath, adjusting her sword on her hip before leaning back against the wall, crossing her arms.
"You'd have woken eventually, I just didn't trust the Void Dragon to not actually destroy something. The manifestation of that creature is one of my worst fears, and probably everyone elses', most of them might not know it though."
no subject
Miles crosses his arms right back, mirroring her. "Well, gee, thanks, I'm so glad you're concerned with my well-being," he says, the sarcasm seeping back in. "Why didn't you just stab it in its face, then? You've got that fancy sword."
no subject
"To destroy the Void would be to destroy myself," she replied, "Our existence is tied together."
It did not necessarily mean the destruction of Meira, but her memories of being Valdis would be gone at the very least.
no subject
Pause.
"That's not ideal."
Talk about your conversation-stoppers.
no subject
"Nothing about our existence is ideal, Miles," she replied, "But luckily for you, yours is slightly more ideal than it was ten minutes ago, when you were in a coma."
