[EVENT] WHOLE LOTTA SHAKIN' GOING ON
Characters: All
Date: October 22 - November 15
Location: Around Aifaran and the Mas'Inge River Basin
Situation: Turtles and Dreaming and Quakes, oh my!
Warnings/Rating: Added as necessary.

The researchers at the Aisling Tower, along with Melias, have finally confirmed the findings from the trip to Cape Averi, and those findings are grim. The turtles that make up the mass of the archipelago are splitting apart prematurely - very prematurely. Dreamfolk are disappearing left and right. And the minor tremors, while infrequent, haven't stopped.
The worst part is that the researchers haven't figured out why they're splitting from each other, or how to stop or reverse the process without harming the turtles. It'll tear Aifaran apart if it keeps going on like this.
The turtles don't want this to happen, either. After each tremor, the barrier flickers, and there's a brief psychic wave of distress that strikes everyone. On October 25th, they appear to Dreamfolk in their sleep as unfamiliar children, begging them to help. Don't let us leave, they say. Please.
It's up to the remaining Dreamfolk to find a way to knit the turtles back together without hurting them..
OOC Notes: Melias will be available for threading upon request.

DOWN DOWN TO GOBLIN TOWN
The deep fissures that have appeared in the river basin are more than just geologically interesting - though that's not to say they're not. The soil is rock-hard, with the footprints of small animals frozen in it, and the impressions of unlucky plants that had pressed into the mud before are still there, clear as day. It's almost as if the area near the delta was flash-fossilized.
The roots within the fissures are potentially more of interest to the investigating parties. They're thick and persistent, and seem to glisten even in the darkness of the underground canyons. As the investigators continue onwards, they'll soon discover why. The roots are part of a series of lightning trees that have established themselves. With a little bit of study, it becomes obvious that when the trees initially took root, they needed so much energy so quickly that they essentially fossilized the area.
Further down into the plains, a quarter-mile from the initial discovery of the root systems, the soil returns to normal, and the fissures shallow out. The caves are still there and ready to be explored, and the Arybar scientists have shored them up to be more easily explored. Watch your step, though.
It's easy enough to see that the fissure here is the edge of a massive shell, which is worrisome, and there are several Arybar scientists trying what they can to investigate. If a Dreamfolk touches the shell, they may begin to hallucinate...or perhaps it's not a hallucination. Perhaps it's a message from the frightened turtle...

FOR SCIENCE
Melias is working closely with the scientists of the Aisling Tower, though she's also around the city, talking to Dreamfolk and natives alike. The common theory is that the Dreaming may be able to help, but nobody can manipulate it...except maybe the Dreamfolk.
Don't be surprised if she comes up to you, a little frantic, with a notepad in her hand.

down down to goblin town~
Aly nudges Nita. She'd decided to buddy up with the other girl, since she knew for a fact that she wouldn't eat or sleep unless she was forced to, and she was pretty sure that Nita was the same way. Turns out she'd been right.
"When's the last time you ate something? 'Cause I know I haven't eaten anything substantial in days."
no subject
Shoulders slumping, she says, "Maybe eight hours ago?"
Which just confirmed why Aly is probably here.
"... Think we should both go out, then?"
She's too tired to make that sound less awkward, right now. She can kick herself for it later, though; her stomach's just started grumbling.

She gets herself up, making sure her book is perfectly bookmarked, thank you, before turning back to Aly.
"Alright, where to?"
no subject
Aly stands on her tiptoes, trying to get her bearings. "Right. Tunnel goes up this way, so outside is this way, too. Onward and upward, yeah?"
no subject
Yeah, she's missing him. So what?
"Onward and upward," Nita agrees, a little lag in her response this time, but she recovers.
Food awaits after all!
