The mother seems briefly overwhelmed by the number of questions about her daughter, but there is a look of relief that people both believe her and are eager to help. She composes herself as best she can to answer the questions put to her.
With regard to what her child looks like: A stout girl of about eight, roughly four and a half foot with her first set of horns just starting to come in. She has her favourite tunic sweater, light blue and sporting the face of a mascot for one of her favourite stories.
When asked where she was last: She ran ahead, calling to her mother to find her in a game of hide and seek. She had run off to the ship’s recreational quarters, which can be reached in a round-about way through the sick bay.
And finally if she was behaving strangely: she didn’t answer any of the questions her mother put to her - she seemed determined to stay out of reach as well, otherwise her mother would have her with her.
One of the sickbay survivors (who seems considerably more skeptical about the mother’s claims) strongly suggests that the cafeteria might be a good place to look for other survivors as well, as it was the tail end towards mealtime and while their cafeteria wasn’t necessarily full at the time, there still was likely to be a sizable number of people there. He says one can reach it via the recreational quarters, but there’s a shorter way directly through the sickbay. He offers his access card for getting around and safely navigating the shunt. Almost as soon as he finishes his sentence there’s an unusual skittering noise in the vents, and the survivors book it out of there to the safety of the deck as fast as their injuries permit.
Your second round of choices are:
Go to the missing child’s last known whereabouts via door #1
Go there indirectly through the cafeteria via door #2
