Rutile -
That is, until today. For whatever reason, Rutile happens to look up at the nearest passing railway car, one that's slowing as it pulls into a nearby station, and they see something odd. There's a pale splinter about as long as a person's hand sticking out of the upper edge of one window near the roof of the car, as though it had fallen from a height and gotten stuck there. Therein lies the problem - the windows on the Skyway cars aren't designed to open. What's more, the cars rarely ever stop unless it's to take on passengers. It's unlikely that the Skyway workers will bother to remove it anytime soon, but in the meantime the shard will be stuck there circling around the city until it's retrieved.
open!
So it is not long after this curiously placed shard comes into existence that Rutile sees it, and the recollection of their conversation with Trahearne not long ago is fresh in their mind. It is not certain whether it is a shard of the sword he is interested in, but regardless, how the stick could have ended up there is interesting by itself.
Rutile plucks themselves off the bench they have been lounging on and quickly makes their way into the station, sneaking through the turnstile until they arrive at the platform. As they assess the situation, they have a critical realization: even in heels, they are not tall enough to reach the splinter.
Filled with determination, they realize the most practical solution is to climb atop the Skyway car.
