[closed] everybody in the whole cell block

Characters: The Fool, Devin, Alice
Date: Directly on the heels of this misadventure.
Location: Whatever passes for a low security holding cell in the Sentry's offices.
Situation: The Fool and Alice have been arrested! Devin is the Fool's one phone call. Hilarity ensues.
Warnings/Rating: Nothing yet! Will update as needed.

Given the number of other catastrophes the Sentry have to contend with at the moment, a pair of nosy troublemakers does not merit more than a bit of time sitting in the drunk tank down at the local precinct. Sitting prettily near the bars, the Fool accepts the office yimo that is passed to him through the bars in order to place a short call to his paramour. (Undoubtedly, the discussion they will have after he has been escorted home will not be as short.)

With the call completed, the Sentry ambles back over to the radio to catch up on the latest news over the network, effectively tuning out his wards--and his paperwork--until this Devin Parker character shows up to remove them.

The Fool folds his hands neatly in his lap, sighs, and then looks to Alice. "Sorry about this." A pause. "Well?" he begins, inquisitive. "What did you see?"

Alice's defense of the Fool was, frankly, kind of adorable. Misguided, but adorable. His eyebrows arch at her audacity.

"I refuse to partake in any tropes that would cast you as a helpless maiden in a tower," Devin needles, teasing right back. He turns his arm over and takes the Fool's hand long enough to squeeze it briefly, unwilling to make a more blatant show of affection in a place like this.

Devin looks to Alice. "You've got spirit, young lady, but you might consider working a little on your common sense." This is intended both as genuine advice and as further ribbing. "The good constable here says it won't take very long until you're released; there is, inevitably, paperwork."

Alice looked slightly puzzled by the exchange between the two - it wasn't as though she were completely ignorant of such relationships, but she'd never seen such an open display. The bewilderment didn't last long, however, because Alice knew when someone was being patronizing.

"Doctor Wilson informed me there's little hope on that front, I'm afraid. Terminal lack of common sense but at least I'm not drooling on the bedclothes anymore."

Alice may have been considered "off her nut" so to speak, but she'd started taking a defiant sort of pride in it. If being mad meant not taking things for granted, she'd wear it like a badge of honour.

"How much longer will he be stuck here?" She asked.

Oh, dear. He knows that expression on the Fool. She'll be over for tea, next. Alice's assertion was more lucid than her words suggested she should be (or was at some point, anyway).

"From what I understand, yes," Devin confirms. "There's not much purpose in keeping either of you here now that they've made their point." He turns a slanted look from one to the other. "This will be earning you both a file here, I imagine, unless you already have one."

They're both troublemakers, at this point Devin wouldn't be surprised. He's most certainly on record here after that whole Chihuelan artifact business.

He tests the prison bars with his free hand, and speaks in a low, conspiratorial tone. "Besides, if they didn't let you out soon, I would release you." The Sentry officer will probably hear the joke, and he doesn't care.
