I met a traveler from an antique land
Characters: The Dragonborn and you fine people!
Date: End of April into May
Location: Various spots around Aifaran
Situation: The adjustment period is a little rough.
Warnings/Rating: None at the moment, will add if needed
The Dreaming Bridge
[His actual arrival is something of a blur, and the process of settling in feels oddly dreamlike as well, from the strange new tattoo And the complete lack of surprise on the part of the locals, to the explanation he's given as he's guided through the winding streets of a city that might well be even larger than the Imperial City. The strange device he's handed upon his arrival does little to change that impression.
It's almost a relief to retreat to the room he's assigned - even if it does turn not to be his alone.]
---
[After a fitful night's sleep he makes his way down to the common room and sips from a mug of tea as he takes in all the posted information he was too overwhelmed to make note of last night. Local organizations, job listings, all of it.]
Garish Graffiti
[This is not an auspicious beginning to his stay in Aifaran. Not just the part where he ended up splashed with paint himself, but the following confrontation with the Sentry.]
I beg your pardon- [He begins, voice rising sharply. While he's irritated to be sure, but there's an edge of something like panic in his voice at the prospect of being on the wrong side of the law already.
He's also flailing a little as he empties his pockets to prove he has nothing to paint with and no paint besides what's splattered down his front. And, therefore, possibly flicking more paint around. Apologies to anyone in the splash zone.]
Daisy-Chaining
[It's a brand new day and he's neither covered with paint nor being falsely accused; life is good.
So good, in fact, that when he's flagged down by one of the priests bearing flower crowns and necklaces, he doesn't hesitate to offer a few rhinn in exchange for one - and the attendant blessing. The goodwill of the local deities is nothing to scoff at, after all.
And he goes about his business from there with the flower crown perched on his head. It doesn't match at all, but he doesn't seem to care - which might or might not be down to the blessing.]
Lucky Breaks
[And his luck continues to turn around, if the running theme that develops as he does his shopping is any indicator. Things never seem to cost him quite as much as he figures they should, and while he's not one to look a gift horse in the mouth... he's also not out to cheat any honest merchants, intentionally or otherwise.
His brow furrows as it happens yet again, this time at the bookseller.] I thought the total would be higher, [he admits, even as he counts out the requested amount.] But if you're sure...

Are you lost? It's polite to knock first, even if you are.
Garish Graffiti
They're accusing the wrong person again? Don't they ever look before accusing? Then again, things have been a little odd lately.
Sighing, she takes a step forward and ignoring the paint that splashes on her, leans in to whisper to him. ]
Everything's going to be all right. Trust me, okay?
Lucky Breaks
I can leave an extra tip, if that would help keep things balanced - though with what I'm buying it might not matter much.
[Her arms are full, and she's regretting not having a basket for this sort of thing.]
