A. Exploring

A new time, a new city. And Conan had a lot of work to do. Throughout the month he can be found in many places around Aifaran,
exploring the area and sticking his nose into everything he sees.

B: Justice: Party Politics

Conan hadn't been able to resist the invitation to this fundraising dinner. He really wanted to know who'd thought that inviting a kid as a special guest at a political event would be a good idea. When he'd originally received the invitation, he'd suspected to be some kind of political stunt. He hadn't expected them to be serious about it. As the speeches drag on, Conan watches the other people at the table and silently judges everyone.

C. Faith: Would you like some literature?

To begin with, Conan had listened with false politeness when he was approached by a pamphlet waving local. That quickly faded into barely concealed annoyance, as every attempt to extract himself from the conversation fails..

D. Soccer

Eventually, Conan located a promising park. It wasn't a real soccer field, of course. As far as he knew, that was a sport that didn't exist here. But it was more than enough space to get some practice in.

Unlike Conan, Sheena had tried to resist the invitation to speak at the dinner. She's a ninja and despite her normally blunt nature, really doesn't like speaking in crowds. Well...planned speaking, anyway.

And speaking on the yimo doesn't count.

As she's listening, she notices the young man looking at her and she raises an eyebrow questioningly.

"May I help you?"

"Did you get invited to this as a guest too?"

He's a guest, too?

Normally, Sheena would say something about the age, but she had learned a long time ago that size and age have nothing to do with anything. Besides, politics affects everyone of all ages.

"Yes, I did." She sighs heavily and looks around. "I'm still not sure why I accepted, though."

"I came because I was curious. I've been to this kind of thing before, but this is the first time someone invited me by myself."

Because where he was from, detectives were the kinds of celebrities that got invited to this kind of thing.

"I wanted to see if they really knew who they were inviting."

"I've been to similar things, but never asked to speak." Yes, she's including the dinner party held by the King in that group.

She regards him for a moment, one eyebrow twitching slightly as she smiles at him impishly.

"Oh? Is there something about you they don't know?"

"Not at all." There was no way they could know his secrets. "I wanted to see whether they were just selecting random people from our group, or whether they intended to invite me specifically."

"Ah," she says, her smile returning to normal. "You mean the people known as 'For-' I mean, 'Dreamers'?" Old habits die hard...

Looking thoughtful, she's silent a moment. "You know, I've been wondering about that myself."

"They didn't have any copies of a kid's menu prepared, so I'm leaning toward the random person answer."

She looks at him quizzically for a moment.

"Or, since they had invited you to speak, perhaps they thought that a kid's menu would be an insult?"

"No adult ever thinks a kid's menu is an insult."

He had lots of experience on this question.

Sheena chuckles.

"Well, actually... I kind of do. I mean, I get that there are some things that kids need to eat more than adults do, but if they want something else, why keep it from them?"

"Most adults I've met wouldn't consider that," Conan tells her. "The usual opinion is that giving a kid's menu to a kid is being nice. It usually comes with a toy, after all."

Sheena scoffs and makes a face. "You mean a bribe, right?" She shakes her head. "When I was a kid, I remember just wanting to be treated like an adult. So, why not do it with food?"

"I'm a kid. Of course I agree. But try telling that to them."

Sheena gives him an impish look.

"What makes you think I won't?"

Kid had come to the park for a small bit of space, taking a seat on a nearby bench. He's been getting headaches on and off since his arrival, and at best he can tell, it's due to his Soul Perception being in overdrive due to the number of different races in the city, something that he'd asked about. The boy with the soccer ball at least provides something of a distraction.

"At least that's a familiar sight."

"You have soccer where you're from?"

Conan wasn't surprised, exactly. It seemed like a lot of the dreamfolk here shared certain cultural similarities. If soccer was one, it wouldn't shock him.

"We do, yes," Kid nodded. "May I then also take it that you're from Earth - or at least a variant thereof - as well?"

"That's right. At home, I lived in the Beika district of Tokyo."

He hadn't met anyone here yet that had known his home district, but a few people had recognized Tokyo.

Kid was one of those who recognized the city, but not the specifics. "I've only been to Japan a few times," he said apologetically. "It was on the other side of the world from me... I was born and raised in the United States."

"Really? What part of the United States? My parents are working over there right now."

At least that was his cover story to explain why they were never around. In truth, he had actually spent a lot of vacations in the U.S. growing up. His family had a vacation home in Hawaii, and he'd spent time in California and New York.
