[EVENT] Moon and Mirrors (Welcome Mingle Log)

Characters: ALL
Date: January 15
Location: At the Dreaming Bridge and all over Aifaran!
Situation: A large influx of Dreamfolk arrive in time for one of the Lunar Festivals, and they're all invited!
Warnings/Rating: N/A

A surprising amount of Dreamfolk have arrived within a short time frame - a peculiarity remarked upon by a number of Aifaran's residents. It is unusual in that it coincides with a lunar festival, one which only happens every fifty or so years.

Newcomers will find the streets packed with all sorts of people, stalls of fried and sugared foods, carnivalesque games and rides, and all other manner of things to do. Merchants are very keen to get their wares out there, and the stipend given may just burn a hole in your pocket when you see what's for sale.

She laughs, a delighted sound.

"The turtle was rather larger, than you'd imagine." She says, dryly. "It carried a city on it's back that was big enough for us and the kedan." She shrugs. "It took some getting used to, but I suppose, I came to see it as home."

The Fool doesn't pause or slow his steps as they approach the festival, but a peculiar look comes across his face at Brigid's words, as though his understanding of the world he's been placed into has grown beyond his ability to grasp it--but it lasts only for a moment. He comes from a world where the figureheads of ships speak, and dragons roam the skies and birth serpents into the seas, after all.

"How did the turtle feel about this?" he asks her with such intense curiosity as to almost be unnerving.

Brigid cocks her head to the side. He moves differently than most humans, and doesn't have a smell. Maybe he isn't human? Well, that would be a first for her.

"Well, I'm not sure." She admits. "In the end it was him that sent us home. We were supposed to be gone for a year, but it ended up being.... five hundred or so." She explains.

"Five hundred?" the Fool exclaims, startled, and this time he does stop. He looks down suddenly as though considering the creature whose back they walk upon suddenly; how ageless they must be. "It is as though time is meaningless to them," he muses out loud, then looks to Brigid again.

"It must have been difficult," he tells her sincerely, "to be gone for so long and find so many things changed upon your return."

Well, sadly, Tu Vishan has not been seen. They're on an island. She wishes they were back on the turtle. "Maybe?" She isn't sure. "Time, I think, means something to them, just not what it means to us." She says, philosophically.

She cocks her head to the side. "It was only six months for me." She explains. "Six months that I needed to live to come back here. My poor boyfriend couldn't go home, and slept for five hundred years. It's harder on him than me."

"I am sorry, for the both of you," the Fool tells her and endeavours to meet her eyes as they walk together. "But you are here together again. That must bring you some comfort."

He isn't bitter as he says these words, but he does need to look away. In some respects, his separation from his own beloved still feels like a thing that happened only days ago, though it has truthfully been much longer.

"Unfortunately, that's a risk you take with transdimensional dating." She says, dryly. "But being back here is good. If I could take him home with me, my brother would gladly help him find his feet. That would be best."

She watches him, but doesn't ask. It's not in her nature to do so. She understands wanting to be with someone though.
