Situation: A large influx of Dreamfolk arrive in time for one of the Lunar Festivals, and they're all invited!

A surprising amount of Dreamfolk have arrived within a short time frame - a peculiarity remarked upon by a number of Aifaran's residents. It is unusual in that it coincides with a lunar festival, one which only happens every fifty or so years.

Newcomers will find the streets packed with all sorts of people, stalls of fried and sugared foods, carnivalesque games and rides, and all other manner of things to do. Merchants are very keen to get their wares out there, and the stipend given may just burn a hole in your pocket when you see what's for sale.

Pepper raised her head from her arms, hastily wiping her eyes-- oh. She knows that face.

"Leo? Yeah, it's Pepper." She glanced at the two bibirus in his arms, unable to not smile for just a moment at their behavior. They really were adorable. "It's-- it's fine, you can come in." Not like this would be the only time she was crying if Bakura didn't show up, and Leo needed to sleep at some point. "I'd rather not be alone, actually."

"Oh. Okay," Leo said, and slowly slid his way into the room, closing the door behind him. He was a bit uncertain about rooming with a girl, if only for the fact he didn't want to seem like a creep, but he could talk about that later when she wasn't so upset.

"It is kinda hard to accept just being back here again, isn't it?" He said softly, scratching one of his pets behind ears. "I'm..not really sure how to make you feel better, but you can hold one of my bibirus if you want?"

She lived with Gene and Tony for two years, and then sort-of part time with Bakura. Rooming with guys is the least of her problems, but she'll appreciate Leo being considerate about that. There were always temporary partitions they could find.

The offer of a fluffy creature to hold sounds great, actually. "Um, sure," Pepper replied, gratitude evident in her voice. "It's-- I'm not upset about being here. There's just... someone who's supposed to be here, too, and-- and I can't find him, and if he's gone home--"

She didn't want to say it out loud, but Bakura was dead back home. Worse than dead.

Sorry, Pepper. He was just a bit awkward. But as soon as she agreed, he held the bibiru he dubbed Michella out carefully in his arm. She started wiggling as soon as she neared pepper, so Leo had to practically dump the creature in Pepper's arms if she reached out for it. Otherwise the bibiru chirped and fluffed her feathers, prodding this new human with her nose.

"Ah." Leo listened to what she said, though. He'd assumed it was about being back here since that was what he'd been upset about but that was obviously not the case. Leo couldn't even begin to imagine some of the other worlds people went back to. "Are you worried he got hurt or something? We can maybe go look for him together, since I've seen a lot of Dreamfolk like us wandering around, including Mr. Klaus and Mr. Devin."

Pepper held her arms out to receive the gift of the bibiru. She's cuddly and letting Pepper give her a hug, so that's about as good as Pepper could ask for right now.

The redhead sighed, stroking gentle behind the bibiru's ears. "I've been looking. Maybe he just hasn't made it to the Bridge yet, but--" Pepper worried at her lip for a moment. "He's-- he's dead in his home world, Leo," she said softly. "And if he went home, I don't know if he can come back. It's-- he barely survived, the last time."

A Bakura could come back. Hers might not.

"I can't really say anything to reassure you, I'm sorry. Mr. Klaus and I both have our memories so I guess...we can only hope. I'm sorry," Leo said, deciding to sit down on his bed to stop standing so awkwardly. He himself was cuddling Chain in his hands, not minding as she nibbled softly on the edge of his shirt.

"Do you...want to go out and look? I can try and help or ask around if he's been seen. We can check the network too."

There was something very soothing about the bibiru in her lap. Small, fluffy creatures tended to have that effect.

"Maybe in a bit," Pepper said, sounding tired. "I figure after running around half the day, it might be better to stay in one place for a little while. You know, be stationary so we're not just missing each other if he is around here somewhere." She lifted her chin so she could see Leo. "It's good to see you again, even if you'd rather not have come back."

[iseeall]

"Okay...and yeah, you too. I saw Mr. Klaus earlier and he remembers everything, so I'm really happy." Also he probably needed to buy the man a new hankerchief. "I forget if you know him or not."

Leo continued to snuggle the bibiru as he rambled on like he normally did when he had to fill the silence. "Do you know anything about our third roommate?"

"Yeah, I know Klaus. He's a good guy." Imposing, but sweet and considerate. "I'm glad he still remembers. That was always the hardest with people who came back to Keeliai a second time, when they didn't remember being there."

It probably happened here, too. The Dreaming had some habits it stubbornly refused to break. Pepper glanced at the third bed, scratching behind the bibiru's ears. "Not much. Her name's Eve. Older than us. She seems nice."

"Mr. Klaus said I came apparently a long time ago, but I don't remember anything about that," Leo said to himself softly. He'd almost-well he HAD-forgotten Klaus talking about that in the haze of his eyes fucking him up. "I guess it must have not been the same me, like him."

He did turn his eyes towards the empty third bed, suddenly looking kind of sheepish. "Wait, you're saying I'm gonna be the only guy rooming here? Won't it get like-kinda awkward for you two?"

"Oh, yeah. I remember that," she confirmed. "You weren't in Keeliai all that long, the first time." A month or two, maybe? Pepper could probably nail it down better if she weren't currently a bit miserable. "I mean... if Bakura comes back and he's not my Bakura... I can live with starting over, if we have to."

She'd much rather have the Bakura she knew back, but if that wasn't in the cards then she wasn't going to just sit around and mope. If he could mellow once, he could mellow again.

Pepper looked faintly amused by Leo's concern. "I was living with two guys in Keeliai," she shrugged. "Maybe not quite this closely, but I don't think it'll be a really big deal. We can ask about, like, partitions, though. Dunno what Eve'll prefer."
