Closed to dumb dinos and birds

Characters: Eiji and Ankh
Date: Feb 7
Location: In a holding cell
Situation: This is what low Justice gets you
Warnings/Rating: None yet

For the record, Eiji was not guilty. He was sure this was just some kind of mix-up because...well, for some reason, a man in a purple tie-dye T-shirt carrying bright green-and-pink flowered boxer shorts around is really memorable and easy to point out to police.

The embarrassment would be easier to deal with if he didn't have to share a holding cell with Ankh, however. Ankh, who he's been keeping an eye on while also doing everything possible to avoid. Ankh, who betrayed him and his friends.

Ankh, who, if Eiji can help it, is going to stay on that side of the cell while Eiji's on this side, pointedly not talking to him.

Yeah. This is going to go well.

"Heh." It's about all the comment he has on Eiji being his usual level of stupid and pretending to be fine.

He shoots one right back.

"No one asked me about whether I wanted to be stuck in a cell with an idiot, either."

Well, that was unnecessary. Ankh catches it with only a small amount of surprised flailing.

And does the obviously mature thing and throws it right back at him.

Of course he does. It's so easy a target Ankh can't even bring himself to be smug about it.

"You think you can say that when you started it?"

"What does that have to do with throwing a cup at me?"

Not that he doesn't have plenty of actual retorts to that, like the part about how he tried to take form again after Eiji destroyed three of his Medals and immediately started falling apart. But really.

Ankh did thank him for that. Considering how rarely he says thank you, he thinks that Eiji should appreciate it more. As for Hina... yes, she said he could stay, for now, and Eiji was very clear about exactly whose side he was on if push came to shove, and it's not like that even counts if the detective would be awake and Ankh would just be a hand.

"You destroyed three of my Cores!"

If he could actually hold together by himself, then maybe he would have some kind of options, but no, someone left him with no choice.

His eyes widen slightly at that first part, because he's not sure whether it's less or more terrifying that Eiji did that unintentionally. The rest... the rest he knows, and he can't argue with, but also it can't be a reason to just be a hand forever. He can't live like that.

"Do you think saying you did it by accident is an excuse?!"

Officer outside be damned, Ankh would have no issues with getting into a brawl with Eiji in here if he keeps being stupid. But when he does get an answer to that, it's...

still alive

But he's not alive at all to begin with, is he?

And why should Eiji care, one way or the other, really?

He doesn't say anything, just turns away. "Tch."
