Characters: Eiji, OTA
Date: Feb 22 - 24
Location: Around Aifaran and the Dreaming Bridge
Situation: Friendship knots, sensory loss, and talents
Warnings/Rating: None yet
1 - Arts 5
Eiji's spent quite a bit of time learning the different knots from the Tifaut's booths around the city, and he's gotten good enough that a couple of people around have commissioned him to make some--partly because it's more personal than buying them at a stall, and partly because he can't bring himself to charge very much other than what someone wants to donate.
Come to pick one up? Come to help and make some money yourself? Or just want to talk? He's mostly at the beach.
2 - Vision
It happens as he walks back to the Dreaming Bridge--his eyes suddenly turn purple, and as he looks ahead at the city, he can barely make it out. Everything has lost its detail, like he's getting poor TV reception, and the colors he's picking up are distorted.
"Not again," he whispers, stumbling backwards in fear. There's no way he can find his way back on his own.
3 - Talent: Restoration
The moments of vision loss have gone away for now, but nothing's changed about Eiji's sense of taste being gone. Still, he tries to help out in the Dreaming Bridge's kitchen, and even if he can't taste anything that's being made, he can at least sort out the vegetables that are starting to go bad.
He sniffs some kind of milk-like liquid and makes a face.
"Okay, I think that's starting to go."
Except...no, it's not, all of a sudden. He feels some kind of weird sensation, and he thinks he's about to have another bout of sensory loss, but...no. The milk, or whatever it is, suddenly seems to smell right.
He looks over to someone else there.
"Uh, can you smell this for me? I thought it might be going bad, but now I'm not sure."

"Slow down, little one, you'll get to where you're going eventually," says the person behind him, the voice deep and calm and somewhat amused. Padparadscha imagines there's something more at work here, but dropping their composure isn't going to help this human any.
Re: 2
He can make out...a person? Maybe? It helps that they're talking to him.
"Um, thank you. Sorry."
He bows carefully, not sure of the distance between them and afraid to accidentally smack his head into Padparadscha.
"I was just trying to get back to the Dreaming Bridge."

They watch him carefully as well to make sure he doesn't bump his head - they don't know much about human bone, but they're fairly sure they're quite a bit harder.
"Ah, well, I was going that way myself. It seemed like you were having trouble."
no subject
"Yeah. I, um...I can't see very well right now."
no subject
"Is that so? Well, I'm used to being a pair of eyes, if that's what you need right now."

He only noticed because he'd been looking over, blatantly not even trying to hide the fact that he'd popped something that looked and tasted like a tiny tomato in his mouth, but, hey.
"What'd you do?"
Re: 3
"I don't know. I just picked it up, and one second it smelled, and then the next, it didn't."
He does feel a little relieved, at least. He's not imagining it, or losing his sense of smell too.

"That's the first time milk has done that! I'd notice if it happened around me." Because he'd be drinking it? Well, uh, yeah. But also because until he arrived in Aifaran, he was taking care of a cat.
"You sure you didn't do anything?"
no subject
He reaches for some decidedly moldy vegetables, but nothing happens. But when he moves to some more that have only just gone bad, those suddenly become fresh again.
And...well, he jumps. Because he did not mean to do that. Or even know how he did that.
no subject
“What do you think the difference was? Were you thinking about how great it would be if something happened?”
(He's actually not kidding. Because Judai would totally be thinking how great it would be if food unspoiled itself! Ha.)

"Eiji."
Eiji's stumbling is enough of a clue that something might be wrong. But getting too close might also become a problem. Some people lash out when they're in trouble.
"It's me."
Re: 2
"Chase?"
Well, so much for pretending everything's okay.
no subject
"Yeah."
He stops in front of him. "You can't see me?"
no subject
"I can see a little. It's just...blurry."
It's a stupid thing to get defensive about, but he's scared more than he is angry.

There is no reason for a human's eyes to start glowing. He has met other people who look like humans who are not, though.
"Eiji. What are you?"

The man next to him wobbles, and Fitz frowns. He leans over, taking a sniff. The man in him flinches, but the wolf in him is somewhat more pragmatic.
"I am unsure as to what the scent is supposed to be," he admits.
ooc: would you please have a look here? Fitz could sense some things about Eiji and could potentially help him, but only in a way that suits you, of course! Thank you
Re: 3
"Well, what I mean is, it doesn't smell rotten to you, does it?"
Because at least the smell of rotting is basically universal.
Re: 3
Fitz nods. "I believe it to be fresh," he says, though the doubt in his voice does him no favors. He peers at the liquid with uncertainty, watching as it swishes in the container held by the other man. Perhaps this other man is indeed from a world with something closer to this than Fitz himself.
"I have drunk milk from various animals, particularly cows and goats. I have never seen milk such as this. Have you?"

Which makes no sense, and he's sure he doesn't make any sense either.
"I'm probably doing a bad job explaining this, but when I first opened the bottle, it smelled like it had started to go sour. And now, well..."
Re: 3
Fitz's eyes narrow in concern, and he opens himself to the Wit. Something he has largely ignored while here. He does not know other people's awarenesses and capabilities. The last thing he needs is to be stoned and driven from this place.
However...
This man has been easing in and out of a certain state of... of animal. Not one that Fitz has ever encountered before. Perhaps he has a Wit-partner?
"Mm," he agrees. "I would not drink it by choice, yet I have drunk worse when needed for survival."
He gives Eiji a wryly sympathetic look. "May I taste it?"

"You've quite a gift for those." Having followed the length of the beach towards wherever it is that Eiji has positioned himself to work, the Fool greets his rescuer from the previous month with a wry little smile. His face looks much improved from their last encounter; a bit of stitching above his eyebrow, and a bruise fading across one of his cheekbones. "I meant to thank you for aiding me," he says a bit more seriously.
Re: 1
"You're welcome. How are you feeling?"
no subject
He lets his eyes wander the stretch of beach that surrounds them, before peering back at Eiji inquisitively. "And it occurs to me I thought to ask your name." He dips his head and a bit of his upper torso in a slightly theatrical little bow. "I am called the Fool."
no subject
"I'm glad. I was really worried."
He blinks for a moment at the theatrics and name before answering, "I'm Eiji."
He wants to ask about the name, he really does. But he's also afraid that he'll end up offending the Fool by asking. Still, the curiosity might still be written all over his face.
no subject
Or, well-ish. In the process of becoming hale and whole again. He can't complain--though he can see the curiosity in Eiji's face after he introduces himself. His smile widens. "An odd name, I know. Yet it is the one I choose to go by."
